Hologram Keyboard Technology

I saw a Holographic keyboard in the invention fair. There was a small stick like thing that would display an image of a keyboard like a projector would; When a spot was touched that had the light of that key on it the computer would then type that key just like a normal keyboard. At first when the key was touched I thought that the blocked light was sending a signal but other keys were blocked but only the key that was touched was input into the word proccesser.

The stick could be placed a lot of diffrent way and could be focused, to make the keys bigger or smaller. Only when the surface of the object that the keyboard was projected on, was the key typed then inputted into the computer.

It cought my eye and made me wonder how it worked so well and what went into designing that piece of equipment.

  1. I've never seen one of those before. Gonna have to do some research into that. It sounds really interesting.

  2. That would be a neat technology for people who travel alot and need to save space. use PDA's instead of laptops, but I dont think I would switch over to a invisible keyboard anytime soon, I like mine too much

  3. I saw one of these on Red Ferret about a year ago. Actually, you can get one for about $150 at OfficeMax.
